Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding legal agreement between you ("you," "User," or "Customer") and GRP Chicago ("GRP," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of our website, mobile interfaces, DIY repair guides, video library, virtual plumber consultations, Association membership program, and any related services (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account, purchasing a product, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract. By using the Services, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
2. Nature of the Services — Educational & Referral
GRP Chicago provides (a) educational DIY repair guides and video content, (b) virtual consultations in which a contractor walks you through diagnosing and attempting a repair via video conferencing or email, and (c) an Association referral network connecting customers with independent, third-party plumbing contractors.
GRP Chicago is not a licensed plumbing contractor in the State of Illinois and does not perform work that requires a license under the Illinois Plumbing License Law (225 ILCS 320). All written guides, videos, and consultations are informational and educational in nature and are not a substitute for in-person inspection by a qualified, licensed professional. You are solely responsible for evaluating whether any task is appropriate for you to perform, for complying with all applicable building codes, permit requirements, and safety standards, and for hiring a licensed professional when required by law or recommended.
3. No Guarantee of Results
We do not warrant that any repair, recommendation, video, or consultation will resolve your issue, prevent property damage, or be free from error. Home plumbing and repair work is inherently risky, and outcomes depend on factors outside our control including the age and condition of your home, the accuracy of information you provide, the photos and videos you submit, and your own skill and execution.
4. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any conduct we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to GRP, other users, or third parties.
5. Purchases, Pricing, and Payment
All prices are listed in U.S. dollars and are exclusive of applicable taxes. Payment is processed by our third-party payment processor; by submitting payment information you authorize us and our processor to charge your selected payment method. All sales are subject to our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
6. Association Membership
The Association is a paid membership program providing access to vetted independent plumbing contractors, member pricing, and the "3-for-1" benefit. Independent contractors in the network are not employees, agents, partners, or joint venturers of GRP Chicago. GRP does not supervise, control, or guarantee the work of any independent contractor and is not liable for their acts or omissions. Membership benefits are subject to availability and may be modified or discontinued.
7. User Content and Submissions
When you submit photos, videos, descriptions, or other content ("User Content") through the Services, you grant GRP a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, and display that content for the purpose of providing the Services, training internal staff, and improving our content library (in de-identified form). You represent that you own or have all rights necessary to submit the User Content.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) use the Services for any unlawful purpose; (b) reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code; (c) resell or sublicense access; (d) upload malicious code; (e) submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information; (f) impersonate any person; or (g) interfere with the operation or security of the Services.
9. Intellectual Property
All Services content — including guides, videos, written materials, software, logos, trademarks, and design — is owned by GRP Chicago or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY GRP OR ITS REPRESENTATIVES SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY.
GRP DOES NOT WARRANT THE QUALITY, SAFETY, OR LICENSURE OF ANY INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR REFERRED THROUGH THE ASSOCIATION NETWORK. ANY ENGAGEMENT YOU ENTER INTO WITH AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR IS DIRECTLY BETWEEN YOU AND THAT CONTRACTOR.
11. Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge that home repair and plumbing work — including any task you attempt based on a GRP guide, video, or consultation — carries inherent risks including but not limited to water damage, mold, structural damage, personal injury, electrical hazards, gas hazards, and code violations. You voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GRP CHICAGO, ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE (INCLUDING WATER DAMAGE, MOLD, OR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE), ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES, ANY GUIDE OR CONSULTATION, OR THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF ANY INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL GRP CHICAGO'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO GRP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GRP Chicago and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the Services, (b) any work you perform based on a guide or consultation, (c) your engagement with any independent contractor, (d) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law, or (e) your User Content.
14. Governing Law; Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute not subject to arbitration shall be filed exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there.
15. Arbitration; Class-Action Waiver
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in Cook County, Illinois. YOU AND GRP WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If this waiver is held unenforceable, the entire arbitration provision shall be void. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without cause or notice. Sections 7–15 and 17 survive termination.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time by posting the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced via the Services or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
